Welcome to Molly Roberts Studio ... Art that makes you smile!
Located in Historic downtown Excelsior Springs, Missouri, my shop, Molly Roberts Studio, will capture your eyes as soon as you see it. From the eclectic windows and outside adornments to the colorful, whimsical Paintings, Handmade Jewelry, Mixed Media, Clothing, Copper Wire Art, Molly Dollys, Scarves, Purses and Messenger Bags, Bookmarks, Accessories and More – this is one store in which you will love to browse and shop.
Now, I have added my online store as a way for those who cannot visit Excelsior Springs to purchase and enjoy my unique, hand-made, original artwork. Each painting is done in acrylic and reflects my love of color – a mixture of abstract cubism, folk art, whimsical and still life. They are bright and enticing – inviting one to gaze upon them over and over.
Voted “Best in the Northland,” my love of color and eye for the whimsical has quickly become noticed throughout the Kansas City metro. Click HERE to read the article about my store by Northland Lifestyle entitled, "Eclectic Artist Returns Home to the Northland – Molly Roberts offers vintage vibe with new studio."
I have also been voted the 2014 Readers' Choice Best Local Artist by readers of the Town & Country Leader and Excelsior Springs Standard in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Both publications distribute to four counties and 17 towns!
Those who visit the shop will often see me in the midst of painting, adding beads to wire art or making one of my one-of-a-kind Molly Dollys. I love the one-on-one interaction with my customers and truly believe I have the best job in the world.
Never satisfied with the ordinary, I love to put my stamp on everything I do. My creations truly are, “Art That Makes You Smile.”
I was recently selected as a semi-finalist for the Missouri Main Downtown Revitalization Awards and featured in the Excelsior Springs Standard July 7, 2015, in the following article:
Molly Roberts Studio Awarded Missouri Main Street Business Excellence Award!
I recently won the Missouri Main Street Excellence Award for 2015. I am pictured with my award in the center, surrounded by other local business owners, from left: Willow Spring Mercantile owners Jim and Daphne Bowman, Ventana Gourmet Grill owners Jill Rickart and Wendy Baldwin and Downtown Excelsior Partnership Executive Director Lyndsey Baxter. The award was presented at the Annual Missouri Main Street Conference at Crown Center in Kansas City, Thursday, July 30.
Excelsior Springs has been recognized for its historic downtown revitalization six times in the last three years. Molly Roberts Studio was awarded with the statewide recognition of the Missouri Main Street Excellence Award for 2015. "I've never felt so honored," said Molly. "It's the nicest compliment to know that all the hours I've put into this are appreciated." Missouri Main Street Connection was launched in 2005 as a not-for-profit organization to help local communities preserve and improve their historic buildings and downtown districts. Missouri Main Street works with 178 communities across the state.
In a press release by Missouri Main Street, they shared the reason Molly was chosen for this year's award. "She is always involved in the activities of the downtown. In the last year, her business has expanded into a larger building and she has relocated and is currently living in the downtown area as well. Part of Molly's success is her willingness to participate in events and activities, along with her friendly personality and customer service standards. This service extends to the art and craft classes that she teaches to both adults and children. One of her youth programs is the Budding Artist Club, coordinated through a partnership with the Parks and Recreation Department. This weekly class teaches art skills that are no longer part of the school curriculum. Molly helps the downtown district with their various events in any way that she can, even when volunteering conflicts with her class schedules. She is innovative in finding ways in which she can make both work.
Molly is, of course, thrilled that she's won the award, but notes that she and her studio are part of a larger effort taking place in her own hometown. "I so love our downtown," she says. "All the business owners work together, which is not the case in every town. To be honored with the Business Excellence award is just icing on the cake. And with it being a statewide award – I just wanted to get up there and shout, 'Thank you, thank you, thank you!'"
Molly has been known to give credit for her sharp business acumen to her late father, Joe Morgan. Morgan once owned the Town and County Leader shopper/advertiser – credited with building it from scratch into one of the largest shoppers in the country at one time. He also owned the Excelsior Springs Standard newspaper and was a well-known and beloved figure in the city.
"Dad is always in the back of my mind when I'm dealing with customers. So much of my business knowledge, ethics and customer service come from him. I will do whatever it takes to please the customer."
Molly Roberts Studio Location
My studio is located in beautiful, historic downtown Excelsior Springs, Missouri. I grew up here and returned to Excelsior Springs to live a few years ago, having missed the hometown feeling of my youth. Excelsior Springs was known for its many healing mineral water springs and was a huge destination for health and healing from 1880 until the early 1960s. Today, the city has experienced a resurgence in its downtown area, which also houses the historic Art Deco Hall of Waters and the world class Elms Hotel & Spa.
Being able to open my own store in my hometown has been a dream come true. There's nothing I love more than painting, creating artistic pieces and chatting with my customers. For those traveling through Missouri, or who are enjoying a "staycation," Excelsior Springs is a must-see destination. Please stop by my store and say 'Hello' while you're here!
